Leadership
The Elizabeth & Patrick Nash Foundation Board of Directors, listed below, provides strategic oversight and manages day to day operations of the foundation. They serve without compensation.
Ann Nash
Ann is a retired Professor at Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, New York where she not only taught mathematics but also co-designed and taught a multidisciplinary “college survival” course for students at high risk of not completing their Associates degree. Her education includes a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Saint Rose and two Masters Degrees, one from Plattsburgh State University and another from SUNY Albany.
Ann’s unexpected journey with CF began in the early 1970s when her daughter Elizabeth (age 2) and son Patrick (age 5) were diagnosed. The tens of thousands of miles driven to their CF care center (2 hours away) and sports practices (an important health maintenance tool for both kids) are just one small example of her dedication to their care.
Carolyn Nash
Carolyn is a seasoned technology executive and board-level leader. She recently retired from her role as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Red Hat, Inc. where she also served as Chief Financial Officer. Carolyn now serves as a strategic advisor in the technology industry, drawing on decades of experience to help high-growth companies scale operations, drive innovation, and navigate complex transformations. Carolyn earned a B.A. from Lehigh University.
Carolyn joined the CF community over 30 years ago when she met and later married and became a critical medical care partner to Patrick Nash. In 2003 she helped co-found the Elizabeth Nash Foundation in honor of her late sister-in-law.
Christine Nash
Christine is a strategic advisor and Board member in the biopharma industry focusing on helping companies bring new medications to market for the treatment of rare diseases. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Rallybio (RLYB), and her most recent full-time role was Chief Commercial Officer for Hyperion Therapeutics, a company focused on the treatment of urea cycle disorders. She earned a BA in Public Policy and an MBA, both from Stanford University.
As the younger sibling of Elizabeth and Patrick, Christine has never known a world without CF. She is a co-founder of the Elizabeth Nash Foundation and the 2025 recipient of CFRI’s volunteer of the year given in recognition of her outstanding contributions to CFRI and service to those living with cystic fibrosis.
James Nash
Jim is the retired President of the Barton Mines Corporation, the world’s largest garnet mining company. During his more than 30 years with the company he oversaw unprecedented growth in the business, including expansion in ex-US markets and establishment of a joint venture with an Australian based mining company. Jim graduated from Siena College in 1964 with a BA in English.
Like his wife Ann, Jim refused to accept the prediction that his young children Patrick and Elizabeth would only live into their early teens, and he worked tirelessly to help them far outlive expectations, numerically and experientially.
